Biography
SONPUB is a Japanese producer, composer, DJ, track maker, and audio engineer whose genre-defying work has helped shape Japanâs modern electronic and crossover music scene for more than two decades. Born in Okayama Prefecture, SONPUB spent his formative years in London, where he immersed himself in music, fashion, and visual art while studying abroad. That international influence continues to define his sound â a bold fusion of electronic music, hip-hop, dancehall, rock, and pop culture aesthetics. After returning to Tokyo in the late 1990s, SONPUB formed the band Brave Race Nation before launching his solo career with the 2004 album PHOENIX BEATS. Since then, he has built an expansive career that includes collaborations with WISE, TERIYAKI BOYZ, RHYMESTER, and global electronic artists while also performing at major events such as South by Southwest, Ultra Japan, and Springroove alongside internationally acclaimed acts including Kanye West and Daft Punk. As one half of the dance music duo MONSTER RION, SONPUB further expanded his influence across Japanâs festival and club scenes. Beyond music production, he is also active in graphic design and video direction, often overseeing his own visual projects. His 2021 release âVoyager (feat. PES, Yo-Sea)â reflects SONPUBâs cinematic electronic style, blending atmospheric production with smooth vocal performances and showcasing the refined artistry that continues to define his evolving career.
