Monster Rion is a Japanese dance music unit formed by DJ/producer SONPUB and MC The BK Sound. Although the project began taking shape in 2013, the duo officially launched activities in 2015, quickly establishing a high-impact sound that blends electronic production with reggae and hip-hop influences. Their style is defined by heavy, aggressive beats from SONPUB paired with The BK Sound’s commanding, energetic MC delivery, creating what they describe as a “thug and upper” dancefloor experience. Their debut single "Stronger"(2015) reached Number One on the streaming Dance Chart, marking a breakthrough moment and setting the tone for their rapid rise within Japan’s club scene. Monster Rion has since performed extensively, holding tours that surpassed 100 shows and appearing not only in clubs but also at major festivals and as opening acts on large-scale tours such as those by Shonan no Kaze. In 2017, they released their first full-length album, Message, further solidifying their identity. Continuing to evolve their sound, the release of "Secret Dancehall"(2017) highlights their fusion of pounding electronic textures with reggae-inflected rhythms, reinforcing Monster Rion’s position as a dynamic force in Japan’s contemporary dance music landscape.
