Sonido Mazter were a Mexican cumbia and grupero band formed in Monclova, Coahuila, in 1989, emerging from northern Mexicoâs sonidero circuit with early albums such as El Ãltimo Beso (1990) and Ritmo Sabroso (1991), followed by the 1993 release Falsa Traición, whose title track "Falsa Traición" became one of their first signature songs. Through the mid-1990s they consolidated their sound on albums like Triángulo de Amor (1994) and Te Llevo en Mà (1995), building a reputation across Mexicoâs audiences. By the 2000s Sonido Mazter had a solid catalog of romantic and dance-floor oriented cumbias, which they revisited on the live set En Vivo... 2010, capturing their status as a working dance band. In 2012 they issued the album Un Hombre Normal, centered around their cumbia version of "Un Hombre Normal", which later appeared on the compilation Ãxitos Mazter (2018) and helped introduce the group to a new generation of listeners on digital platforms. Their legacy releases continued into the streaming era with the anthology Lo Más Escuchado De (2019) and the live album Una Noche de Acero (En Vivo) (2022), featuring updated renditions of favorites such as "Un Hombre Normal" and other classics from their 1990s and 2000s repertoire, while Sonido Mazter remained active as a reference point for northern Mexican cumbia and the sonidero scene.
