Biography
Grupo Miramar was founded in 1972 in RÃo Grande, Oaxaca, Mexico, by Don Julio Padrón who assembled local musicians including José Barette Rendón, Enrique Cariño, and Elfego González. The groupâs early work focused on local celebrations before gaining a broader audience with their distinctive âBalada tropicalâ style. Their first major release came in 1976 with the album Una Lágrima y Un Recuerdo, featuring tracks such as "Una lágrima y un recuerdo" and "Bésame", which established the bandâs presence in the Mexican grupera scene. In 1977 the single "Aquel Inmenso Amor" broadened their appeal across Latin America, prompting tours that, due to logistical limits, led to the formation of unofficial imitators in several countries. Grupo Miramar signed with the label Coro in 1976 and remained active until 1995, releasing albums such as No Me Dejen (1987) and Grupo Miramar (1991). The group dissolved in 1995 following internal conflicts, and its legacy endured through tribute acts and reissues of its influential recordings.
