Biography
Grupo Flash is a Mexican cumbia and grupero band from Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, founded in 1986 by singer and bandleader José Luis Garza after his long stint with Los Krazy Kings. Built around Garzaâs voice and a large, shifting lineup of seasoned musicians, the group broke through with its debut album Dueño de Tu Amor, which introduced songs such as âEl Maestroâ and âCuco el Perruco,â then kept expanding its audience through the late 1980s and 1990s with staples including âPero Tú No Estás,â âUn Amor Como El MÃo,â âRitmo Fácil,â âEl Profesor Rui Rua,â âEl Ranchito,â and âLas Cartas de la Baraja.â That first major run also produced albums such as Relámpago De Corazón in 1993 and Me Gustas in 1996, while frequent television appearances and tours across Mexico and the United States helped make Grupo Flash one of the durable keyboard-driven acts of its era. The group remained active into the 2000s and 2010s with releases including La Máquina Del Ritmo, El Carrito de Mi Abuelo, La Cumbia Callejera, La Loteria, and El Sueño Continua, later returning with José Luis Garza una Historia in 2022. In the 2020s, Grupo Flash kept its catalog moving with the live albums Noche de Flashazos (En Vivo), Función En Directo (En Vivo), and Grupo Flash Live Sessions, Vol. 1, plus new live singles such as âComo Se Supone,â âRitmo Fácil (En Vivo),â and âPero Tú No Estás (En Vivo),â extending a career that lasted more than four decades.
