Biography
Regional Mexican music band Grupo Bryndis was formed in Santa Paula, California, in 1983. Specializing in the cumbia, tecnocumbia, and grupera subgenres, the group started with José Guadalupe Guevara on vocals, Juan Guevara on drums, Claudio Montaño on keyboards, Mauro Posadas on guitar, and Gerardo Izaguirre on bass; however, over the course of their long career, this lineup would undergo several changes. They played a variety of songs including covers and originals adapted to their particular style. The groupâs first release was 1986âs Alma VacÃa, followed by Atrás de Mi Ventana (1987). Grupo Bryndis released a string of albums in the late 80s and early 90s, but it wasnât until their 1993 album Por el Amor that they were able to achieve popularity, attaining gold status in the USA. Their popularity skyrocketed and they toured all over the United States, Central, and South America. Not only did they release studio albums, but they also released recordings of their live performances such as En Vivo Gira México 2005 (2005), which bolstered the popularity of their live shows. In 2007, the group released Solo Pienso en Ti, an album that earned them their first Latin Grammy Award. In 2016, Grupo Bryndis released A Nuestro Estilo, an album that features various ballads adapted to the groupâs particular style; this includes the song âMe Vuelvo Un Cobarde,â a song originally written by Christian Daniel.
