Sluts Of Trust were a Glasgowâbased rock duo formed in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist John McFarlane and drummer Anthony O'Donnell, who had first met as teenagers at the Scottish Youth Theatre in 1995. After a brief period of rehearsal and an opening slot for Lapsus Linguae at King Tutâs Wah Wah Hut, the pair attracted the attention of Chemikal Underground Records, signing with the label after only four gigs. Their debut single, "Piece O' You", released on 21â¯Novemberâ¯2003, sold out its limited 1,000âcopy pressing in a week and reached number 16 on Johnâ¯Peelâs Festiveâ¯Fifty chart; the followâup single, "Leave You Wanting More", issued in Aprilâ¯2004, was named The Independentâs Single of the Week and placed at numberâ¯5 on the posthumous Festiveâ¯Fifty. The duoâs debut album, We Are All Sluts of Trust, was issued on 26â¯Aprilâ¯2004 and received positive reviews, selling approximately 10,000 copies worldwide. After drummer Anthony O'Donnell departed in Novemberâ¯2004, Roo Harris joined, and the band continued touring the UK and the US, supporting acts such as The Delgados and Bloc Party. While the group remained active until the midâ2000s, they ceased regular touring after 2006, and John McFarlane has since pursued solo acoustic performances and new material.
