Biography

Skinny Lister are a British folk-punk band known for their high-energy performances and anthemic songs that blend traditional folk with punk rock sensibilities. Formed in Greenwich, London, in 2009, the band quickly gained a reputation for their relentless touring and vibrant live shows. Their debut album, Forge & Flagon (2012), introduced their signature style, combining folk melodies with punk energy. The follow-up, Down on Deptford Broadway (2014), produced by Ted Hutt, showcased a more refined sound and earned them a spot on the UK Indie Album Chart. In 2016, they released The Devil, the Heart and the Fight, which continued their exploration of personal and social themes. This was followed by The Story Is... (2019), a concept album reflecting the band's experiences and challenges. In October 2023, Skinny Lister released their sixth studio album, Shanty Punk, via Xtra Mile Recordings. The album features tracks like "Down on the Barrier" and "Company of the Bar," which celebrate the band's love for live music and camaraderie. In May 2025, they released their seventh studio LP, Songs From The Yonder. The lead single, "Plough On," is an optimistic anthem about overcoming adversity, drawing inspiration from traditional folk melodies.
