Biography

Frightened Rabbit was a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003 by vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison. The band's name came from a nickname given to Hutchison by his mother due to his chronic shyness. By 2006, the project evolved into a full-fledged band with the addition of Hutchison's brother Grant on drums and guitarist Billy Kennedy. Their debut album, Sing the Greys, was released in 2006 on the local label Hits The Fan. After a US tour and a performance at SXSW, Frightened Rabbit released their critically acclaimed second album, The Midnight Organ Fight, in 2008 through FatCat Records. In 2010, they released The Winter of Mixed Drinks. Following Scott Hutchison's death in May 2018, the remaining members cancelled a headlining festival performance but performed at a charity event later that year. Noting that the band "does not exist" without Hutchinson, the members also mentioned in interviews that demos recorded with Hutchinson's involvement could still be released.
