Sheep on Drugs is a British electronic group formed in England in 1990 by vocalist Duncan X and guitaristâkeyboardist Lee Fraser. The duo met in 1988 and reacted against the direction of the lateâ1980s acidâhouse scene, creating an energetic techno/industrial sound that blended sampling and live instrumentation. Their breakthrough came with early singles such as "Catch 22" and "Motorbike" in the early 1990s, followed by the 1993 EP From A to H and Back Again, which reached number 40 on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number four on the CMJ RPM Charts in the United States. In 1993 the group released the album Greatest Hits, produced by Gareth Jones, which charted at number 55 in the UK, and in 1994 followed with â¦On Drugs. After being dropped by Island Records, the band released two independent EPs before signing with Invisible Records in the United States. Under that label they issued Double Trouble (1996), One for the Money (1997), and Never Mind the Methadone (1997). Frontman Duncan X left the group in the late 1990s, while Lee Fraser continued as a solo artist. The group reâformed in 2002 with new vocalist Johnny Borden, releasing F**K (2005), Medication Time (2010), and Club Meds (2012). Their work remains a notable contribution to the UK techno and industrial scenes, with sustained touring and remix activity into the 2020s.
