Seasons In Black was founded in 1996 in the Bavarian Forest, more precisely in Neukirchen beim Heiligen Blut, Bavaria. According to their own definition, the German dark metal band plays a mixture of gothic, hardcore, groove and doom - known as doomcore. The stable line-up has currently consisted of Ludwig Maurer(Lucki) (vocals/bass), Roman Adam (guitar), Markus Neumeier (keyboards/vocals) and Harald Hemauer (drums) for over 15 years. Leon Hanff joins as lead guitarist in 2021. The founding line-up is no longer active; all current members joined in 1997 or later. The band has released three studio albums to date. The debut Deadtime Stories was released in 2004 via Black Attakk, followed by The Swansong Diearies in 2013 as an in-house production. On July 4, 2025, the third album Anthropocene follows after twelve years via Apostasy Records. With this album, the band reaches the German charts for the first time. "Seasons In Black" is released as a pre-release single with a music video, followed by "You Get What You Give" and "Inside" - a cover of the Stiltskin song from 1994. The band's genre remains dark metal or doomcore, with dark, groove-oriented riffs and emotional impact.
