Biography

Draconian, a Swedish doom‑metal group formed in Säffle in 1994, began as an outfit under the name Kerberos before adopting its current title after Anders Jacobsson joined. The band’s first demo, Shades of a Lost Moon, was recorded in 1995 and released in February 1996, establishing their atmospheric, melancholic style. Their debut studio album Where Lovers Mourn appeared in 2003, followed by Arcane Rain Fell (2005), The Burning Halo (2006), Turning Season Within (2008), A Rose for the Apocalypse (2011), Sovran (2015), and Under a Godless Veil (2020). Signing with Napalm Records in 2002, the group toured across Europe and North America, collaborating with vocalists such as Paul Kuhr and Daniel Anghede. Their releases have charted within the European metal rankings, and Sovran earned acclaim for lyrical depth and production quality. In 2026, the band returned with In Somnolent Ruin.
