American doom metal duo Sunn O))) (pronounced "sun"), formed by Greg O'Malley and Greg Anderson in 1998, claim to be an experimental band. Their heavy music, devoid of conventional rhythmic lines, is far from standard. Their main influences are another American duo, Suicide, the metal band Earth, and other sound-exploring musicians. Since their debut album ÃÃ Void, released in 2000, Sunn O))) have carved out a special place in the hearts of extreme metal fans. In 2002, Flight of the Behemoth, followed by White2 in 2004, Black One in 2005 and Altar the following year, offered new sensations between industrial metal, drone metal and dark ambient. Monoliths & Dimensions, released in 2009, is just as dark. Between albums, Sunn O))) broadens its horizons with collaborations with Earth, Boris (Japan), Pan Sonic, Ulver and, on 2014's Soused, singer Scott Walker. The following year saw the release of a seventh album, Kannon.
