Biography

Savage Progress is an English pop group formed in 1982, consisting of Rik Kenton, Glynnis, Ned Morant, Carol Isaacs, and Andrew Edge. The band's diverse cultural backgrounds infused their music with a blend of traditional pop styles, reggae, Caribbean dance rhythms, and African influences. Their initial breakthrough came after recording demos at The Point studio in London, leading to a publishing contract with Point Music and the recruitment of Andrew Edge on drums. In 1984, Savage Progress signed with 10 Records, a subsidiary of Virgin Records, and released their debut single "My Soul Unwraps Tonight", which peaked at number 14 in Germany. The song was written by Kenton, a former member of Roxy Music. Their first album, Celebration, was partly produced by Paul "Wix" Wickens. The band supported notable acts such as Tina Turner and the Thompson Twins on tours across the UK and Europe. Other notable songs include "Burning Bush" and "Heart Begin To Beat". After a European tour in October 1984, Glynnis left the band, leading to Savage Progress' eventual disbandment.
