Saraya was an American hard rock band formed in 1987, based in New Jersey. The group consisted of lead vocalist Sandi Saraya, guitarist Tony "Bruno" Rey, keyboardist Gregg Munier, bassist Gary Taylor, and drummer Chuck Bonfante. Initially performing under the name Alsace Lorraine, Sandi Saraya and Gregg Munier traveled to Los Angeles before returning to New Jersey to write material for their debut album. In 1987, they were joined by Tony "Bruno" Rey, Gary Taylor, and Chuck Bonfante. The band released their self-titled debut Saraya on PolyGram Records in 1989, which included the single "Love Has Taken Its Toll" that peaked at Number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their follow-up single "Back to the Bullet" reached Number 63. The band's second album, When the Blackbird Sings, was released in 1991, but faced internal issues leading to several lineup changes and ultimately the band's disbandment. Gregg Munier passed away on February 3, 2006, from complications of pneumonia.
