Re Niliu, a band from Italy, was founded in 1979 by Sergio di Giorgio and Ettore Castagna. Initially, they documented and published traditional music from their native Calabria region, focusing on the Zampogna tradition. Re Niliu released their debut album, Nonsuli e noâ luna, in 1984, followed by Caravi in 1988. The band then transitioned to blending traditional music with modern arrangements, incorporating elements of folk, world music, rock, and urban sounds. Subsequent releases include Pucambù (1994) and In a Cosmic Ear (2015).
