Biography

Aidan Girt is a Canadian singer and electronic musician known by his stage name 1-Speed Bike. In 1994, Girt co-founded the Montreal-based post-rock collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor, where he served as a drummer. Alongside Gordon Krieger and Mike Zabitsky, he formed Exhaust in 1996, releasing their self-titled album Exhaust in 1998. As 1-Speed Bike, Girt released his debut album Droopy Butt Begone! in 2000. His subsequent releases include albums such as El Gallito (2003), Someone Told Me Life Gets Easier in Your 50's (2005), and Pashto Translator Needed (2010). Notable singles include "I Am a Pretzel on a Stealth Mission to Kill the President" (2002) and "A Swimmer in the Ocean is Not Afraid of the Rain" (2006). In 2019, Girt began releasing music as a duo with guitarist Eric Quach under the name Some Became Hollow Tubes.
