Planes Mistaken for Stars was an American rock band formed in 1997 in Peoria, Illinois. They released their self-titled EP in 1998 and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1999. Their first full-length album, Fuck With Fire, was released in 2001 through No Idea Records. The band gained traction with subsequent albums, including Up in Them Guts (2004) and Mercy (2006), and toured extensively with notable acts. After a period of inactivity, they reunited in 2010 and released Prey in 2016. Tragically, lead singer Gared O'Donnell died from esophageal cancer in November 2021. The band disbanded that same year. Post-breakup, they released their final album, Do You Still Love Me?, in 2024.
