Biography

The Lawrence Arms is an American punk rock band from Chicago, formed in 1999 by Brendan Kelly, Chris McCaughan, and Neil Hennessy. The trio was previously active in the groups Slapstick, the Broadways, and Baxter. Its debut album, A Guided Tour of Chicago, was released in 1999 on Asian Man Records, followed by Ghost Stories (2000). After signing to Fat Wreck Chords, the band released the EP Fat Club (2001) and the album Apathy and Exhaustion (2002). The latter featured the song “Porno and Snuff Films”. Subsequent albums include The Greatest Story Ever Told (2003) and Oh! Calcutta! (2006), which featured the song “The Devil's Takin' Names”. The band's releases also include the EP Buttsweat and Tears (2009) and the albums Metropole (2014) and Skeleton Coast (2020). Members are also involved in side projects including the Falcon and Sundowner.
