Biography

Parálisis Permanente was a Spanish punk rock band formed in Madrid in 1981 by Eduardo Benavente, Nacho Canut, Javier Benavente, and Johnny Canut. In 1982, they released a split EP with Gabinete Caligari, featuring "Autosuficiencia" and "Tengo un pasajero". This led to the formation of Tres Cipreses Records, which released their only studio album El acto later that year. The album included the track "Quiero ser santa" and a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes". In May 1983, Eduardo Benavente died in a car accident, leading to the band's dissolution. Post-breakup, Parálisis Permanente has been recognized for their influence on Spanish punk rock, with El País naming "Autosuficiencia" as one of the most important songs in Spanish punk history in 2020.
