Biography

MDC, an American punk rock band, formed in 1979 in Austin, Texas. Initially known as the Stains, they released their first single "John Wayne was a Nazi" in 1980. The band's lyrical content often expressed radical left political views. Relocating to San Francisco by 1982, the band renamed themselves MDC and released their debut LP Millions of Dead Cops. The album included notable tracks such as "Dick for Brains" and "I Remember". In 1983, they released the EP Multi-Death Corporations through Alternative Tentacles, Jello Biafra's independent label. MDC continued to release albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Smoke Signals (1986), This Blood’s for You (1987), and Hey Cop! If I Had a Face Like Yours... (1991). MDC disbanded in 1995 but reunited in 2000, releasing subsequent albums such as Mobocracy (2009) and Mein Trumpf (2017).
