Magdalen Hsu-Li, born Rochelle Li in 1970 in Martinsville, Virginia, is an American singer-songwriter. She began piano lessons at age eight but initially focused on painting. Hsu-Li's musical career started after moving to Seattle and while studying classical music and jazz at Cornish College of the Arts. Her debut album Evolution was released in 1998 under her own label Chickpop Records. In 2001, she released Fire, which was named one of Performing Songwriter magazine's top 12 DIY Albums of the Year and won Best Producer at the Outvoice Music Awards. Hsu-Li graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 2008.
