Nu Genea, an Italian electronic duo from Napoli, consisted of Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina, who first met in Berlin in 2014 and adopted the name Nu Guinea before changing it to Nu Genea in 2021. Their early work began with the selfâtitled EP Nu Guinea (2014) and a subsequent World EP (2015), after which they collaborated with Nigerian drummer Tony Allen on The Tony Allen Experiments (2016), released through Comet Records. In 2018, the pair celebrated their hometown with Nuova Napoli (NG Records), a fusion of electronic beats, Neapolitan vocals, and acoustic instrumentation that earned critical acclaim and launched a national and international tour visiting France, Russia, Brazil, Australia, and the Netherlands. The duo also contributed to the Napoli Segreta vinyl series with DNApoli and Famiglia Diocristiana, preserving 1970sâ80s Neapolitan music. After rebranding as Nu Genea, they released the single "Marechià " with French singer Celia Kameni and signed with Carosello Records, followed by the Bar Mediterraneo album (NG Records licensed by Carosello) in 2022, which saw the group perform across Italian and European festivals. In 2025, they issued the single "Sciallà " featuring Fabiana Martone, and in 2026, they released People of the Moon, including the track "ONENON", an album that expanded their linguistic palette and marked a new artistic direction.
