Napoleon Murphy Brock, born Napoleon Brock on April 23, 1943, in the United States, is a saxophonist, singer, and flautist. He began his musical career in the late 1960s with Communication Plus, a band he formed in the San Francisco South Bay Area. Brock's breakthrough came when Frank Zappa's road manager discovered him performing in Hawaii in the early 1970s. This led to his collaboration with Zappa, contributing notable vocal and saxophone performances on albums such as Apostrophe (â), Roxy & Elsewhere, and One Size Fits All. He also appeared as the "Evil Prince" on the album Thing-Fish and performed on songs including "Village of the Sun" and "Cheepnis." Brock has performed with George Duke, Captain Beefheart, and the band Neonfire. In 2009, he received a Grammy Award as a member of Zappa Plays Zappa for his performance of "Peaches en Regalia."
