Kristof Hahn, born February 6, 1959 in Saarbrücken, Germany, is a guitarist known for his experimental rock contributions. He studied classical guitar before transitioning to electric guitar, influenced by artists like Ike Turner and Glenn Branca. In the early 1980s, Hahn moved to West Berlin and joined several projects. Hahn gained prominence as a member of Swans, joining in 1989 for the Burning World album tour and contributing to White Light from the Mouth of Infinity (1991). He left Swans in 1992 but rejoined in 2010. During his tenure with Swans, Hahn released several notable albums including The Seer (2012), To Be Kind (2014), and Leaving Meaning (2019). His non-traditional approach to the lap-steel guitar became a signature element of Swans' sound. Beyond Swans, Hahn collaborated with Michael Gira's Angels of Light and Thomas Wydler on various projects, as well as recording movie soundtracks for Robert Schwentke and Marko Doringer.
