Biography

Mumuzinho, born Márcio da Costa Batista on December 14, 1983, in Rio de Janeiro’s Realengo neighborhood, is a renowned Brazilian pagode singer, actor, and composer. His early career saw him acting in popular national films like Cidade de Deus and Tropa de Elite. Mumuzinho’s music journey took off in 2007 when he began opening for artists like Belo and Exaltasamba, eventually becoming a backing vocalist for Dudu Nobre. In 2011, he released his debut album Transpirando Amor, featuring the hit track "Curto-circuito." His collaboration with Zeca Pagodinho on the DVD Quintal do Pagodinho further solidified his place in the genre. In 2012, Mumuzinho signed with Universal Music and released the album Dom de Sonhar, produced by members of Sorriso Maroto. The LP featured hits like "Te Amo" and "Mande um Sinal." His 2018 live release, A Voz Do Meu Samba, showcased his vocal prowess and brought him even more acclaim. In 2020, Mumuzinho gained widespread attention as a judge on the fifth season of The Voice Kids Brasil. 2021 saw the release of the album Playlist, which featured Sorriso Maroto on the track "Um Cara Apaixonado." He followed up in the next few years with live LPs such as Resenha do Mumu (2022) and Resenha de Verão (2024), and popular singles like "Rolo Fixo" (2022) featuring Zé Vaqueiro and "500km," released in 2024.
