Biography

Mr. Hudson & the Library was formed in England in 2006 by vocalist and guitarist Mr Hudson, joined by Joy Joseph on steelpan and percussion, Torville Jones on piano, Robin French (Maps Huxley) on bass, and Wilkie Wilkinson on drums. Their debut EP, Bread & Roses, appeared in October 2006, followed by the single "Too Late Too Late" which gained radio play and a performance on Later with Jools Holland in December 2006. In March 2007 the group released their sole studio album, A Tale Of Two Cities, on Mercury Records; the record blended hip‑hop drum patterns, folk guitar, reggae bass, classical piano, and steelpan, and included covers of "On the Street Where You Live" and "Everything Happens to Me". The band supported high‑profile acts such as Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, Mika, Groove Armada, The Police, and Kanye West during 2007, and played at major festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The group disbanded in 2008, after which Mr Hudson pursued a solo career, releasing Straight No Chaser in 2009.
