Melky Sedeck, the HaitianâAmerican sibling duo of Blandinna Melky Jean and Farel Sedeck Guerschom Jean, were born in 1995 in Haiti. Their early exposure to music came through their father, Wyclef Jean, and the local HaitianâAmerican hipâhop scene. In 1999, they released the single "Raw", signed with MCA Records, and released the album Sister & Brother, featuring collaborations with Darryl "Day" Pearson and Supreme C. In 2000 the track "Morning Star" was included in the soundtrack of Love & Basketball. In 2001 the duo released the single "Kitty Kat World" and collaborated on "I've Got a Love Jones for You" for the soundtrack of Love Jones, marking their first official recording under the Refugee Camp. They performed in Toronto with The Roots and appeared at Lilith Fair alongside Aimee Mann and Beth Orton.
