Biography

Kid N Play, an American hip-hop duo from New York City, was composed of Christopher Reid ("Kid") and Christopher Martin ("Play"), alongside their DJ Mark "DJ Wiz" Eastmond. The group formed in 1987 after meeting while performing in rival high school groups. Initially known as the Fresh Force Crew, they changed their name to Kid N Play by 1987 and recorded their first singles "She's a Skeezer" and "Rock Me". Their debut album 2 Hype was released in 1988, followed by Kid 'n Play's Funhouse in 1990. The duo achieved significant chart success with hits such as "Rollin' with Kid N Play", which reached Number 11 on the Billboard R&B singles chart, and "Funhouse" and "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody", both of which topped the Billboard rap singles chart. Their third album Face the Nation was released in 1991. In addition to their musical careers, Kid N Play ventured into acting, starring in six feature films, most notably the House Party series. They also appeared on the soundtrack albums for these films and had their own NBC Saturday morning cartoon. The duo disbanded in 2008 following Martin's conversion to Christianity.
