Biography

Cookie Crew, a British rap duo consisting of MC Remedee (Debbie Pryce) and Susie Q (Susan Banfield), was formed in Clapham, South London in 1983. The group gained initial traction after winning a national rap championship and recording sessions for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show. Their breakthrough came with the single "Rok da House", which became popular in nightclubs and eventually reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1988. This track is noted as one of the earliest examples of hip house. Cookie Crew signed with Rhythm King, working with producers Beatmasters, and released their debut album Born This Way! in 1989, which peaked at number 24 on the UK Albums Chart. The album included hits like "Come On & Get Some", "Got to Keep On" featuring Edwin Starr, and "Born This Way (Let's Dance)". In 1991, they released their second album Fade To Black and the single "Love Will Bring Us Back Together". By 1992, creative differences with their label FFRR led to their retirement from the hip hop/rap scene.
