Biography

Max Jury made his debut with 2014's Something in the Air, an EP that introduced the songwriter's mix of retro-minded country-rock, lush Americana, and soulful roots music. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 12, 1992, he began listening to artists like Neil Young, Gram Parsons, and Wilco as a teenager, which laid the foundation for his own sound. After spending a year at Berklee College of Music in Boston, he signed with the British indie label Marathon Artists and released Something in the Air, followed by his self-titled debut album in 2016. "Numb," the gospel-influenced lead single from Max Jury, became his breakthrough hit, earning heavy airplay throughout the UK and amassing more than 30 million digital streams. Max Jury toured with Rufus Wainwright and relocated to London, where he spent the following year releasing a limited-edition string of cover songs. Those songs were then compiled together as the 2017 EP Under The Covers. Another EP, 2018's Notes From California, featured acoustic demos of his own material. Meanwhile, Max Jury expanded his sound to include vintage jazz influences and modern pop touches, both of which were reflected on his 2019 sophomore release, Modern World.
