Biography

Todd Daniel Snider, born on October 11, 1966, in Portland, Oregon, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. After high school, Snider moved to San Marcos, Texas, where he began his songwriting career inspired by Jerry Jeff Walker's performance at Gruene Hall. In Memphis, Snider secured a weekly residency at The Daily Planet and met John Prine through Keith Sykes. His debut album Songs for the Daily Planet was released in 1994 under Margaritaville Records, reaching Number 23 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Notable tracks include "Talking Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" and "Alright Guy". Snider's subsequent albums included Step Right Up (1996) and Viva Satellite (1998). He passed away on November 14, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.
