Biography

Matthew Thomas Duke, born January 20, 1985, in Reston, Virginia, is an American musician and singer-songwriter. Raised in Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey, Duke began playing piano at a young age before transitioning to guitar at 13. His early performances included local theatre productions and live shows at coffeehouses. Duke signed with MAD Dragon Records, a student-run label at Drexel University, contributing to the compilation album XYX (2005). This led to the release of his debut full-length album, Winter Child (2006). Duke's career gained momentum when he signed with Rykodisc and released Kingdom Underground (2008). The album was followed by an acoustic EP, Acoustic Kingdom Underground (2009), and a collaboration EP titled TFDI (2009) with Jay Nash and Tony Lucca. Duke released his second full-length album, One Day Die (2011).
