Hugo Largo was an American rock band from New York City, U.S., formed in 1984, known for their unique lineup featuring two bass guitars, a violin, and vocalist Mimi Goese. The group initially consisted of Goese, Tim Sommer, and Greg Letson. In 1985, Letson left and was replaced by Adam Peacock; shortly thereafter, Hahn Rowe joined on violin. Their debut EP, Drum (1987), produced by Michael Stipe, was released on Relativity Records and reissued as a full album with additional material on Brian Eno's Opal Records in 1988. The band's second album, Mettle (1989), followed. Hugo Largo went on hiatus in 1989 but reformed in 1990 without founding member Sommer, playing their final gig at the Brooklyn Bridge Anchorage in 1991. In 2024, Missing Piece Records released a compilation titled Huge, Large and Electric: Hugo Largo 1984-1991 (2024), featuring live and previously unreleased material.
