Biography
Founded in Callao, Peru, Mario Alberto "Maryto" Duran (lead vocals) launched his own salsa orchestra, Maryto y Su Salsón, following stints with prominent groups like Rumbavana, Cómplices de la Salsa, and KllaoâSalsa. In 2021, the band gained fame with a heartfelt cover of Omar Alfannoâs âMe fascina esa mujer,â which opened doors to major venues across Peru and abroad. Their breakthrough came in 2023 with the single âÃmame,â a romantic salsa track that resonated deeplyâgarnering over 7 million streams and earning Duran the title âKing of Romantic Salsa.â Riding that success, they issued several live and studio projects, including the 2024 live album En Vivo Barrio Millán and studio album Salsa Romántica en Prg (2024), cementing their blend of classic salsa rhythms and modern arrangements.
