Mandrake Handshake are a UK-based psychedelic collective known for their eclectic fusion of krautrock, art-pop, and psychedelia, a blend they describe as "flowerkraut." Formed in Oxford in 2018, the sprawling, ever-evolving bandâcomprising Row Janjuah (lead guitar/vocals), Trinity Oksana (lead vocals), Elvis Thirlwell (percussion), Joe Bourdier (drums), Rudy Mae Symonds (backing vocals), David Howard-Baker (saxophone/flute/keys), Moogieman (modular synth/keys), Scott Custis (rhythm guitar), Charlie Arrowsmith (rhythm guitar/comet) and sometimes othersâdraw inspiration from a diverse array of influences, including funk, Japanese animation, and Latin pastoral poetry. The ensemble's lineup fluctuates between seven and ten members, featuring a dynamic mix of musicians. Their live performances are celebrated for their energy and improvisational flair, having graced stages at festivals such as Wide Awake, Green Man, and Manchester Psych Fest, as well as venues across the UK and Europe. Mandrake Handshake released their debut single, "Hypersonic Super-Asterid" in 2020, with the Shake The Hand That Feeds You EP following in 2021 and singles such as "The Triple Point of Water" (2022) and "King Cnut" (2024) leading up to their debut album, Earth-Sized Worlds, released in early 2025, and showcasing their musical evolution and experimental approach.
