Zoë Fox and the Rocket Clocks formed in Melbourne around 2017 as a space-pop ensemble fronted by multi-instrumentalist Zoë Fox (vocals, guitar, synth, percussion), joined by Torsten Gustavsson (guitar, synth) and Tyler Millot (bass) in their key live lineup. They launched their debut single âFistsâ late in 2017, followed by âWarrior Princessâ in 2018, both marking the early phase of their retro-sci-fi aesthetic and local live climb. Their debut album Clockwerks arrived in March 2020âa 12-track burst of synth-inflected disco-pop and jangly guitarsâwhere Fox wrote all the songs and shaped the bandâs songwriting identity. After a pandemic-pause, the group issued a moody, polished cover of âDonât You (Forget About Me)â in 2021, then turned toward self-produced originals with âFlirting With Aliensâ (2023).
