Major (often stylized in all capital letters as MAJOR.) is the stage name of Major R. Johnson Finley. Major is an American pop soul musician, producer, singer, and songwriter. He was born on March 10, 1984, in Denton, Texas, and was raised for most of his life in Houston, Texas. Major got started in music at a very young age, receiving classical training. He started his career with some viral success on video-streaming platforms, after which he entered a relationship with B.O.E. Music Group. In 2016, Major released the EP I Am MAJOR., which spawned the promotional singles “Why I Love You” and “Keep On.” This release garnered accolades from press and fellow artists, with legendary musician Stevie Wonder hailing “Why I Love You” as “the wedding song of the year.” The song reached the Top 5 in the Adult R&B Billboard Chart. The EP was followed by his debut full-length album Even More in 2018. This was followed in 2021 by MAJOR.HOPE Motivations. Major is also an accomplished actor, starring as Rashad on the Fox TV musical drama Star. In 2023, Major released the single “Baby Will You Love Me,” a soulful pop song with gospel touches that reached Number 30 on the Adult R&B Songs chart.
