Calvin Richardson, born December 16, 1976, is an American R&B singer-songwriter known for his smooth vocals and deep soul influences. He began his solo career in the late 1990s, signing with Universal Motown to release his debut album Country Boy in 1999. Though modest in sales, it established him as a promising voice in contemporary R&B. His follow-up, 2:35 PM (2003), released on Hollywood Records, featured the hit âKeep On Pushinââ and a solo version of âMore Than a Woman,â originally recorded with Angie Stone. The duet version, later re-recorded with Joe, earned a Grammy nomination. Richardson gained further recognition by co-writing hits like âThere Goes My Babyâ for Charlie Wilson and appearing on Raphael Saadiqâs Instant Vintage. He found success on Shanachie Records with When Love Comes (2008) and the Grammy-nominated Facts of Life: The Soul of Bobby Womack (2009). In 2014, he signed with Eric Benétâs Jordan House label and released I Am Calvin, followed by All or Nothing (2017), Gold Dust (2019), and Five Years Later... (2024). Influenced by soul legends like Al Green, Bobby Womack, and Babyface, Richardson is known for blending classic soul with contemporary R&B stylings.
