Biography
Born in Houston, Texas, on September 17, 1985, Zacardi Cortez made a name for himself in the contemporary gospel world with his debut album, The Introduction, released in 2012. A disciple of pastor and singer John P. Kee, whom he considers his mentor, he began touring under his wing and began to make a name for himself, before joining James Fortune's FIYA group in 2007 and going solo. In 2012, his debut album The Introduction proved a success, not only in the gospel arena where it landed at #2 on the charts, but also generally with a #8 on the R&B charts and a #73 on the Billboard 200. This Blacksmoke Records release was followed two years later by a new iteration called Reloaded, which reached #10 on the gospel charts. The singer followed this up with several singles over the next few years, including "Gold Held Me" (2016), "Oh How I Love You" (2018) and "You Don't Know" (2019). Returning after the Covid-19 pandemic, he reconnected with audiences with his final tour album, Imprint (Live in Memphis), released in 2022, before reuniting the following year with John P. Kee on "Something About the Name Jesus", alongside Lewis Sky and Rance Allen. 2025 saw the release of the single "I Can Be Anything" with the Hip Hop group Boobly Show, followed by the EP Ibhar: He That Is Chosen (Chapter 1), featuring the hit "Work It Out for Me" (#25 on the gospel charts) and further collaborations with Jekalyn Carr, Chrystal Rucker, Jason and Jonathan Nelson.
