Kimberly Michelle Pate, who goes by the name K. Michelle, is an American R&B singer-songwriter who has had three recordings go to number one on Billboard's Top R&B Albums Chart. Born in Memphis, Tennessee she learned to play the piano and guitar at a young age and studied music at Florida A&M University. Her 2009 single 'Self Made' featuring Gucci Mane reached number 89 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. 'Fakin' It' (2009) with Missy Elliott went to number 100, 'Fallin'' (2010) peaked at number 56 and 'I Just Can't Do This' (2010) and 'How Many Times' (2011) both hit number 53. Her 2013 debut studio album 'Rebellious Soul' went to number one on the Top R&B Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and number two on the Billboard 200. The track 'V.S.O.P.' reached number eight on the Hot R&B Songs Chart and 'Can't Raise a Man' went to number 13.
Her second album 'Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart?' (2014) topped the R&B Albums Chart, went to number two on the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and number six on the 200. 'More Issues Than Vogue' (2016) topped both the R&B/Hip-Hop and R&B charts. 'Kimberly: The People I Used to Know' (2017) topped the R&B Chart and peaked at number 23 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. She has appeared on the VH1 television shows 'Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta', 'Love & Hip Hop: New York' and 'K. Michelle: My Life'. In 2014 she starred in the musical 'K. Michelle: The Rebellious Soul' directed by Idris Elba. An EP of the soundtrack went to number 15 on the R&B Chart. She has toured with singer Robin Thicke and headlined her own tours with concerts across America in 2018. She released a track titled 'F**k Him' with rapper Nick Cannon and another titled 'Save Me' in November 2018.
