Biography
Brian Williams, born January 9, 1964, in Bethesda, Gwynedd, Wales, is a Welsh musician, sound designer, and composer known for work under the name Lustmord. Williams began a musical journey within the industrial genre, collaborating with Chris & Cosey and SPK before transitioning to the moniker Lustmord. A debut album Lustmørd (1980) was released, followed by Paradise Disowned (1986). The breakthrough came with Heresy (1990), which marked a shift towards digital audio manipulation and field recordings from locations like crypts, caves, and slaughterhouses. Notable collaborations included work with Robert Rich on the album Stalker (1995) and contributions to film soundtracks such as The Crow (1994) and Underworld (2003). Williams also worked extensively with Tool, providing sound effects for tracks like "Descending" and atmospheric sounds for the title track of the album 10,000 Days (2006). Lustmord's live performances included appearances at the Unsound Festival in Kraków and Stockholm. This work influenced the dark ambient genre, though Williams downplayed the sinister connotations and regarded the music as neither dark nor ambient.
