Biography

Jephté Guillaume is a Haitian-born DJ, bassist, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Brooklyn. His initial breakthrough came with the release of singles such as "Lakou-A" and "The Prayer (Priyè-a)" in 1996 and 1997 respectively. In 1998, Guillaume released his debut album Voyage Of Dreams, which was noted by Billboard magazine and the Washington Post for its boldness as a double disc debut sung entirely in Haitian Creole, mixing house music with rich orchestral instrumentation. The following year, he performed at the Body & Soul house party and performance co-sponsored by HMV at Central Park Summerstage. In October 1999, Guillaume opened for Zap Mama at Irving Plaza. His second album Blue & Deep was released in 2011.
