Biography

Jane Froman was an American actress and singer. Froman began a career with classical voice training at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. A national network debut occurred on NBC in July 1931 and Froman joined the Ziegfeld Follies in 1934, becoming the top-polling female singer. Froman released the album Souvenir Album (1952), followed by With a Song in My Heart (1952), which became the Number 1 best-selling album that year. Froman performed despite severe injuries from a 1943 plane crash. The song “I Believe” (1953) earned Froman a gold record. Froman's life story was depicted in the film With a Song in My Heart (1952). Froman died on April 22, 1980.
