Mary Margaret Morgan, known professionally as Jaye P. Morgan, was born on December 3, 1931, in Mancos, Colorado. She began her career as a singer and actress, gaining early recognition while attending Verdugo Hills High School in Los Angeles. In 1953, Morgan released "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries" with Derby Records, which reached number 26 on the U.S. Billboard chart. This success led to an RCA Victor recording contract, where she achieved five hits within a year, including her biggest hit "That's All I Want From You" (1954), which peaked at number 3, followed by singles such as "Just a Gigolo" (1955) and "I Walk the Line" (1960). At RCA she released albums including The House of Jaye P. Morgan (1957) and Just You, Just Me (1958). She joined MGM Records in 1959, before later issuing Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries (1962) on Tops Mayfair. Morgan also appeared on various television shows, including Stop the Music, The Robert Q. Lewis Show, and The Jaye P. Morgan Show. Throughout her career, she made guest appearances on popular series like General Electric Theater, Hennesey, and The Eleventh Hour. In addition to her musical endeavors, Morgan was a panelist on game shows such as The Gong Show and appeared in films including Loose Shoes (1980) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).
