Raelene Claire Claussen, known professionally as Sue Raney, was born on June 18, 1940, in McPherson, Kansas, and is an American jazz singer. She began her professional career at a young age, joining Jack Carson's radio show in Los Angeles in 1954 and later working with Ray Anthony's band. At 17, Raney signed with Capitol Records and released her debut album, When Your Lover Has Gone (1958), produced by Nelson Riddle. In 1960, she recorded "Biology", which became Capitol's first single elevated to national promotion. Raney collaborated with the Stan Kenton orchestra in 1962 and sang the theme song for the 1967 film, Wait Until Dark. Her single "Early Morning Blues and Greens" peaked at number 16 on the Billboard MOR chart, and she sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Dodger Stadium before the sixth game of the 1978 World Series.
