Florian Zabach, born on August 15, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, was an American violinist and TV personality. He studied under his father, Florian Zabach Sr., who played clarinet with the Vienna Philharmonic, and later at the Chicago Cosmopolitan Conservatory of Music. At age 12, he debuted with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing the Mendelssohn concerto. His breakthrough came with the recording of "The Hot Canary", which sold a million copies and reached the top 15 of the Pop charts in 1951. Zabach hosted a television show in 1954 that aired internationally, and in 1960, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work on television. He recorded numerous albums for Mercury and Decca. Zabach performed with major symphony orchestras worldwide, and his compositions and musical arrangements were donated to the Library of Congress in 2005. He passed away on February 25, 2006, in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
