James Victor Heinz, known professionally as J57, was born and raised in Long Island, New York. He began his music career freestyling, battle rapping, and beatboxing in high school under the stage name JLOG1C. In 2004, while working at Fat Beats, he met the Brown Bag AllStars and recorded songs with the group. In 2008, he changed his stage name to J57 before the Brown Bag AllStars released their first mixtape, The Brown Tape. In 2010, he released his first mixtape, Digital Society, through Balanced Records, featuring artists such as Homeboy Sandman and Soul Khan. Additionally, he co-founded the record labels FiveSe7en Collective and Chavez Sound. In 2023, he released the album SAN GENNARO.
