Informatik, an American electro-industrial/futurepop duo from Boston, was formed in 1993 by David Spiegelman and Matthew Crofoot. The band's early work included self-producing their debut demo tape, Direct Memory Access, which led to the creation of Sinless Records for independent distribution. Their first album, Direct Memory Access, was released in 1995. Informatik later secured a deal with Metropolis Records, leading to the release of their second album, Syntax, in 1998. Crofoot left the band after Syntax, and Tyler Newman joined as his replacement. Under Newman's influence, Informatik shifted towards a trance-oriented futurepop style, evident in albums like Nymphomatik (2002) and Beyond (2008). The band released several notable singles, including "Come Together" (2009) and "How Long" (2013). In 2004, they also released Re:Vision, a remix compilation featuring interpretations by bands such as Assemblage 23 and Funker Vogt.
