Biography

Greenland Whalefishers are a Norwegian folk punk band from Bergen formed in 1994. Named after the traditional folk tune “The Greenland Whale Fisheries”, their musical style combines British punk with Celtic traditional music. They released their debut single “Mary B. (Good)” (1994), followed by the studio album The Mainstreet Sword (1996). Their discography includes the studio recordings Loboville (2001), Streets of Salvation (2004), and Songs from the Bunker (2010). The ensemble contributed the track “Rocky Road To London” (2009) to the film The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009). They also issued the extended play Looney Tunes (2014). Their recording career includes the studio album Based On a True Story (2019).
